On November 22nd, 2019, DWS will distribute around EUR 550 million to investors in the DWS Top Dividende fund. The associated payout value per share, of EUR 3.60, sets a record as the highest payout of any fund in DWS's 63-year history. Since its launch in April 2003, the fund has achieved an average distribution yield of 3.4 percent annually; in total, around EUR 4.4 billion has been distributed.
Fund manager Thomas Schuessler, Global Co-Head of Equities, says: "Our dividend strategy has been developing very successfully for years.” DWS Top Dividende has delivered an average annual performance of 9.4 percent, with around 25 percent lower volatility than the overall market as measured by the MSCI World index. "Particularly in the low interest rate environment and the associated low, in part negative, real returns, the fund has proven to be a very solid investment," says Schuessler.
Thomas Schuessler and his team currently manage around EUR 25 billion in global dividend strategies. This corresponds to almost a quarter of the total volume of global dividend strategies registered for distribution in Europe1, making DWS the clear market leader in the category “Global Equity Income”.
For the past six-and-a-half years the dividend team has been successfully managing global dividend portfolios for institutional investors while incorporating sustainability criteria into the strategy. Sustainability has also been a key component of the team’s mutual fund “DWS Invest ESG Equity Income” since its launch in August 2017.
