We at DWS are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, one that embraces dialogue and diverse views, and treats everyone fairly to drive a high-performance culture. The value we create for our clients and investors is based on our ability to bring together various perspectives from all over the world and from different backgrounds.
It is our experience that teams perform better and deliver improved outcomes when they are able to incorporate a wide range of perspectives. We call this #ConnectingTheDots.
Across the firm we have a series of Employee Inclusion Networks (EINs). These are employee-led groups that empower connectivity, and offer opportunities for colleagues from different backgrounds, experiences, and business areas to connect as a community. By nature, these groups cannot be exclusive, but inclusive and open to everyone.
The active status of each group varies per region, and they include the following:
The Asian Inclusion Network is dedicated to highlight and address issues affecting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).
The Black Leadership Alliance strives to empower the success of Black professionals to drive a culture that welcomes and values diversity.
DWS Enable network promotes inclusion for colleagues with disabilities, and long-term health conditions, and supports caring responsibilities.
The Gender Diversity Network and Women’s Inclusion Network (WIN) engage, educate, and empower colleagues to discuss and address topics of relevance aimed at strengthening gender composition across the firm.
The Generation Network focuses on enhancing inclusion irrespective of age through interactive working groups.
The Latin Inclusion Network supports the growth and success of our LatinX colleagues and fosters an inclusive workplace environment.
The Origins, Nationality and Ethnicity network is committed to connecting colleagues of different racial, ethnic and cultural groups across the firm.
DWS Pride creates a safe, inclusive, and judgement-free zone for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies by fostering an environment of mutual respect.
The Veteran Engagement Team is committed to outreach and engagement with Veterans and families to support and raise awareness for this community.
In nurturing an inclusive working environment, we have several key external partnerships across the globe. These not only help us to drive our internal agenda, but also enable us to share good practice and to positively impact the societies we are operating in.
These include:
We’re delighted to be certified for our commitment to the Human Capital Reporting Standards (ISO30414), having previously been one of the first organizations to do so in this developing area of disclosure.
This provides guidance on the human capital metrics companies should report internally and those they should disclose publicly – including areas such as ‘Compliance and Ethics’, ‘Diversity’, ‘Leadership’, ‘Organisational Culture’ and ‘Health and Wellbeing’.
At this time, the changing legal situation in the United States has required corporates to review, and modify where appropriate, diversity initiatives to maintain compliance with the law. We are no exception, and we will continue to thoroughly review all aspirational goals and initiatives to ensure compliance with local law. We conduct this review balanced with the increasing requirements under European law to focus on diversity and improve transparency, such as the German Gender Quota Law and European Sustainability Reporting Standards.
